Hey Guys We Are Here Today To Talk About

the electro voice EkX 15 Sp. This is a 1300 watt class D amplified 15-inch subwoofer. It claims 133 db maximum SpL, which is decently good. It comes with an integrated pole mount for easy speaker installation. This is a threaded type.

It Is Lightweight Has Built-In Handles Easy

to transport around it has both quarter inch and xLR combo inputs for both left and right and also features two outputs that are chained through respectively. This thing claims a frequency range of 40 hertz to 180 now. In reality it’s more like 45 to 150. It does have smart DsP with adjustable low pass filter on it and also features an internal thermal management system with variable speed fan on the back that helps keep the system cool. The system also features the cardioid technology where you can go.

The Panel On The Back.

If you have multiple of these Ekx 15s, you can create a cardioid subpattern for your room and it comes in weighing at about 57 pounds, which is not too heavy that’s actually very light compared to a lot of the subwoofers out there on the market. It does have the tough ev coating on the outside and the box itself is made of plywood. This is one of my favorite subwoofers. I use for small Dj gigs it’s lightweight.

I Can Easily Carry It In

and out of a venue without much Ado I don’t have to have a cart or anything like that it’s light enough. I can carry it around and I can take it just about anywhere it needs to go and it’s small enough that it’ll fit under my table or it’ll fit in the corner of just about any. room now, I know you guys are going to want to hear what this thing sounds like so we’re going to do our best to try to capture some of this a little bit later on in the video, but for now let’s jump down to real time me and let’s take a look through all the different features of this Ekx 15 Sp hey guys welcome to real life me so we’re going to take a look at this subwoofer here. Let’s get this thing plugged in and we’ll check out the menus on it all right. So we just turned it on here and you can see here.

Ill Try To Get As Best Of A

view as I can here. We have a basic level control when you first turn it on. So you can actually take this thing and increase or decrease the volume of it. This will help you kind of get this thing matched and dialed in with the rest of your speakers. You don’t have individual gain inputs.

  • subwoofer
  • subwoofers
  • microphone
  • ekx
  • speakers

You Just Have The Master Input Here, But

these two are like I said chained directly through so whatever comes in here is going to come directly out of here. It’s just going to pull off of both of these for the actual subwoofer portion itself so we’ll click in here to the menu. The first thing we have is a mode preset now the mode preset adds like some basic eq to everything so the club one obviously is going to be a little bit deeper. You have a live sound option. It’s going to give some some good response for live music.

Its Not Going To Be Quite As

deep and meant for music really here to help reproduce a kick drum we. Have the music mode as well? So the music is more of a flat eq curve on this thing like I said the club one was a little bit. You know bump on the blue in there and that’s it. We just have those three options um the next selection. I’m going to leave this on clubs where I had it next location is the next.

The Next Item Is The Location Now.

This is where you can set this thing to either normal or cardioid, so the normal mode is obviously what you’re going to want for just one of these. If you have two of these you can actually stack another one on top of it and flip it around face it the other direction and then you set whichever one is facing backwards to your crowd to the cardioid mode and it will time align it and it will take care of all the eq presets and level presets. You’ll need to make it into a cardioid subarray. The third option is the low pass you can set this anywhere from Oh I don’t know see you get 80 100 120 150 and you can also get this whole thing Also has presets for the Ekx speakers.

Both The 12P 15P Options For

the Elx series and what this does it’s actually the ZLxtopia, which is what I use what this does is it basically will just match up the frequency response of this subwoofer to match the 12p. So the two will act as one sounds a whole lot better. I personally just dial it into about 80 that’s where I like it, but it depends on what speakers I’m running you can control the led on the front of it with this here you can turn on off or you can set it for it only shows up when it limits which is kind of nice to have you can set the dim the LCd whenever you’re not using it. I like to dim it so it doesn’t waste any extra power and just you know keeps the life of the LCD good you adjust the LCD brightness contrast and the last option you have is to store and recall presets. So you can actually store a preset.

When You Have Everything Set How

you want it you can store that up and then recall it later. If you’re changing between speaker systems or other stuff like that, you can also lock the subwoofer keep anybody from messing with it on here on the back too as well. You can reset all the settings, and you can also check the info of the speaker and what firmware it’s running now that’s pretty much it for the actual subwoofer itself. I mean you’ve seen plenty of images of it. Now the panel itself is easy to use it’s nice and bright.

  • subwoofer really going highly recommend
  • features ekx 15 sp
  • electro voice ekx 15
  • ekx 15 sp 1300 watt
  • sp powered subwoofer

You Can See It From A Bunch Of

different angles. It’s easy to see if I keep my camera focused there, but you can see it from all kinds of different angles and it looks really nice. It’s an easy subwoofer. You can see it’s kind of beat up. I mean I got a lot of crap on it.

Its Got Some Dust On It Here Um.

I use this subwoofer a lot so as you can see I mean it’s well road used there’s a lot of dust in the handle there too but it’s well used. I mean I’m not going to review something that I haven’t used before You guys know that and I look at the dust on the fan there. I probably should clean this guy out but you know I you guys will get the most honest review because I’ve used this thing a ton so let’s hop into some of the sound aspect of this thing. We’ll get this thing hooked up and we’ll take a listen to it as best.

We Can With The Camera Microphone Alright So

we’re back over here We’re going to attempt to do some frequency sweeps. I have a cardioid condenser mic hooked up to this camera here So we’re going to give it. A try the problem we’re going to run into is my room itself is quite noisy, so you’re going to hear the the the ceiling rattle Some you’re going to hear the table. What’s on rattlesum that’s the problem We’re trying to capture subs. I need to do this like outside but it’s currently raining so I really can’t take this stuff outside to do it where you won’t get vibrations so we’re just gonna play a little bit.

Well Do A Couple Frequency Sweeps And You

guys can make your assumptions from there but trust me. It does sound like a pretty good subwoofer. All right there’s 20 hertz so so wow hmm all right so there you have it. This is the Ekx 15 sp powered subwoofer I hope you guys enjoyed this review it was kind of hard to capture the audio on this thing because you. know that’s one thing that you really can’t tell until you get into your room and stuff like that but for the price and for its abilities.

This Is An Excellent Subwoofer.

I really am going to highly recommend this one especially for smaller gigs um. You know this is not going to replace your 18-inch subwoofers or your dual 18s and things like that but this will be good enough to get you through a lot of the smaller gigs smaller weddings and things like that where you really don’t need to push a absolute ton of bass so I appreciate you guys tagging along and I will see you guys all on the next video.
