Welcome Back To Life Of Bliss I

have been needing to do this review for a while now so today we are going to be looking at the S vs UK 4000 subwoofer now if you saw the unboxing video for the subwoofer. I went over all of the features and specs that the UK 4000 has to offer. I’ll link that video below, but today will be more about the performance and my overall thoughts on the sub now first I got to mention the design as a lot of you mentioned in the unboxing video. Yes. This does look like a small water heater that may be a deal-breaker for some right off the bat.

But It Is Really An Excellent Design For

an enclosure. Cylinders are extremely rigid which you want in a subwoofer enclosure plus UK has been able to design a large enclosure for a. and a half-inch driver while only taking up a 16-and a half-inch diameter circle of floor space. The finish on the enclosure looks great with the high-gloss trim ring and metal mesh covering up the ports. The display screen on the bottom is easy to navigate and able to be shut off if need be as well.

One Thing I Was Concerned About Was

the fabric used to wrap around the enclosure with two cats. I thought they would try to use it as a giant scratch post, but so far they haven’t taken any interest in it, but that’s something to consider if you think the fabric will be an issue to get some performance data in my room. I fired up room UK wizard and used au Mic 1 to take some measurements now. For the past several years I’ve had a UK 15-inch. Ultimate subwoofer in my system powered by a crown UK S1000 amplifier so that’s kind of my baseline of what I’m used to down here Performance wise I’ll be showing data from both subwoofers, so you can get a good idea of having UK 4000 stacks up to a similar sized UK setup.

So After Level Matching The Subs

I ran a few sweeps from 10 Hertz to 200 Hertz with the you mic one and the main listening position. The Dayton Alta MAx 15 only has one measurement while the UK 4000 I took three measurements one for each tuning first We’ll take a look at the Dayton Ultimax sealed 15-inch sub as you can see things could use a bit more tuning to flatten out the response, but this is a good baseline for what I have experienced in my theater In the past there’s a pretty decent. around the 38 Hertz mark and the response starts losing steam around 25 Hertz and falls off pretty quickly. After that when you add in the UK 4000 sealed response, it measured a bit flatter than the Ultimax and had a bit more low-end extension down to about 21 Hertz before it started falling off now here’s where things got a little interesting. Let’s take away the Dayton,_Ohio” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Dayton Ultimax and bring in theNK] 4000 ported tuned when he at the ported response.

My Room Had Significantly More Output.

Starting around the 31 Hertz mark at 21 Hertz before the response starts dropping the ported tune was over seven decibels louder than sealed with sound. You can double the perceived volume with a three decibel increase. So this was a pretty significant jump last list ad the extended tuned measurement now compared to ported here I lost about two UK. On the max output around 21 Hertz but look how far down this goes and still has significant output.

  • enclosure
  • subwoofers
  • ported
  • cylinders

There Is Still A Pretty Significant

response around 17 Hertz and under before it starts dropping off. The extended tune has over four decibels louder at 17 Hertz. Than sealed and over 13 decibels louder than the ported tune, bringing the Ultimax 15 graph back in you can see that the UK 4000 crushed it and output anything lower than 30 Hertz. Now for this part I didn’t record the sound but I used the tone generator and UK meter in rew to get a better look at how these frequencies started to drop as you can see with the Ultimax 15. The UK starts dropping after around 30 Hertz and I’m able to hear some distortion with the driver at this volume going much lower switching to the UK 4000.

In Extended Mode, The Uk Is Pretty Consistent

all the way down to 17 Hertz before it starts rolling off quickly. The measurements obviously show all this, but it was kind of cool to experience all this in real time now with the super exciting stuff out of the way let’s go do some demos and go over my impressions of the UK 4000 as far as sound quality goes this subwoofer did produce some tight accurate bass I did enjoy the extra output from the extended mode by plugging one of the ports, but when there were some lower deeper bass notes played at high volumes. There was some chuffing that did occur. This didn’t happen often, but it was distracting when it did now. I normally listen to things pretty loud down here and I do like my bass boosted a little bit so that could have been.

Part Of The Problem, But If

you are listening to this at moderate listening levels, it probably shouldn’t be an issue, but it is something to keep in mind If you are looking to run this in deported or extended mode. Now let’s talk about the price. NK] 4000 will set you back eighteen hundred dollars shipping is free and there is a 45-day in-home trial with free return shipping. If you aren’t satisfied with any product from UK now coming from a UK perspective $1,800 seems like quite a bit of money to spend on a single cell. But when you start looking at all the features at the UK 4000 has to offer the price starts to become a little more reasonable.

The Integrated 1200 Watt Uk Amplifier Multiple Tuning

options. Wireless control with the UK phone app and the attention to detail with the finish I’ll stack. to an extremely powerful and good-looking subwoofer to easily integrate into any system. Overall. I have had a blast using the UK 4000 in my home theater couch shaking reference level output height, accurate bass and the ability to adjust any setting on my phone from where I’m sitting has made this an excellent upgrade over the Ultimax 15-inch woofer that I’ve been using in the past if you were interested in the UK 4000 or any other products from UK.
